With the August Bank Holiday fast approaching, make sure you’ve planned ahead with your Bacs submissions to allow for Bacs Bank Holiday Processing Dates.

Bacs processing works on a 3-day cycle. These days are known as the “Day 1: Input Day”, “Day 2: Processing Day” and the “Day 3: Payment day”. You need to send your file to Bacs 2 working days prior to the payment date (day 3). If you have any questions about this, please let us know – or maybe its time to consider BACS accredited training.

August Bank Holiday Monday (26th August)  means it is a ‘non-processing day’. Make sure that you have scheduled all your direct debits and credits with this in mind. If you’re unsure of the date changes that you may need to make you can always get some extra help from a consultant, and also refer to the table below:

Payment Arrival Date Processing Date Latest Submission Date
Tuesday                            27 August
Friday                            23 August
Thursday                                       22 August
Wednesday                     28 August Tuesday                        27 August
Friday                                            23 August

As always you can submit any Bacs files up to 30 days in advance; just remember if you do to ensure that the correct processing date is. And if you’re struggling with the processing of your direct debits and/or credits you can always use a Bureau to do the heavy lifting for you.

Finally, if you haven’t already, and it’s never to late, you can download the Bacs calendar for 2019 so you can better prepare and get the non-processing days in your calendar.
